A bizarre sight from St. Patrick's Day: "FRENCH GOURMET BAKERY - Kiss Me I'm Irish." Umm, make up your mind!

An Animaniacs shower curtain that Dot gave me as a birthday present!
thumbnailCURTAIN2.GIF
FILESIZE: 66,876 bytes — IMAGE SIZE: 297x251 pixels
Once the curtain was hung up, it was hard to take a good photo of it because there just isn't enough room to get a good angle.

At the dentist's office, after the dentist's assistant cleaned my teeth, I became bored waiting for the dentist to come in and examine me, so I started playing with the suction hose by sticking it on my nose, letting it hang there just by suction, and then pulling it off with a POP. In the car on the way home, my mom noticed a strange reddish spot on the tip of my nose. That's right, I gave myself a hickey!

Dad and I went to a party at a Galveston beach house. It was a very windy day, and the wind kicked up a lot of mist from the ocean. As we approached Seawall Blvd., it looked as though there were nothing beyond it!

Buildings in Galveston emerge slowly from the mist as we approach them.

thumbnailDotdiner.jpg
FILESIZE: 26,088 bytes — IMAGE SIZE: 391x358 pixels
At the height of Animaniacs-mania, I thought it was hilarious that there was a diner in town named "Dot". [The building, on Westheimer Rd, no longer exists.]

One of my first Photoshops (although I didn't have Photoshop at the time; I used Corel Paint). Miyako becomes Yakko.
thumbnailHerbsacu.jpg
FILESIZE: 45,512 bytes — IMAGE SIZE: 458x339 pixels
Herb's Acupuncture? That doesn't sound very authentic! Has Herb even been to China? Not to mention the bizarre concept that is the "Texas Institute of Oriental Medicine". Well, actually, there is quite a large Asian population here.
thumbnailSigns-at.jpg
FILESIZE: 21,659 bytes — IMAGE SIZE: 299x218 pixels
Signs seen at Nan's Games & Comics Too: "This sign is not here." "WARNING: These premises patrolled by an attack turtle."
thumbnailLEVITRON.JPG
FILESIZE: 22,547 bytes — IMAGE SIZE: 467x280 pixels
Cool toy I got from a science museum gift shop: the Levitron! See, the base has a strong magnet in it, pointing up, and there's another magnet in the top, pointing down. The magnet in the top wants to flip over, but the gyroscopic action of the spinning top prevents it, so it hovers!

I think this is the longest I've ever let my hair get.

Worst non-smoking-area sign EVER! Its smoking-area counterpart looked exactly the same, except for the word "NON". Very hard to tell apart at a glance! Fortunately, this was in a Whataburger, one of the first restaurants in Houston to go smoke-free, and the badly designed signs were soon removed.
thumbnailCapfelix.jpg
FILESIZE: 28,422 bytes — IMAGE SIZE: 269x365 pixels
Captain came to Houston and visited me. Here he is wearing his Felix the Cat shirt.

thumbnailCapwatfl.jpg
FILESIZE: 39,819 bytes — IMAGE SIZE: 423x283 pixels
Captain at the Transco Fountain. This picture is actually altered; there were some dudes in jock clothing in the background, and I didn't like them, so I rubber-stamp-brushed them out.

thumbnailBRAND-LS.JPG
FILESIZE: 37,847 bytes — IMAGE SIZE: 277x382 pixels
Captain, Jay, Mom and I went to one of Jay's favorite restaurants, a steak house somewhere on the Gulf Freeway. These "LS" brands on the wall made me wonder: Lisa Simpson?

thumbnailUFO-ST.JPG
FILESIZE: 26,559 bytes — IMAGE SIZE: 423x286 pixels
One of the huge UFO-like chrome rings that hang over street intersections around the Galleria with the names of the streets on it.
thumbnailUFO-ST2.JPG
FILESIZE: 25,234 bytes — IMAGE SIZE: 423x286 pixels
The previous picture, altered to make it look like the ring really is a UFO.
thumbnailBEDSTUFF.JPG
FILESIZE: 67,123 bytes — IMAGE SIZE: 585x392 pixels
All of my Animaniacs plushies (two of each regular size, one of each small size) and my Animaniacs pillows laid out neatly on my bed.
thumbnailGECKOGYM.JPG
FILESIZE: 40,660 bytes — IMAGE SIZE: 422x383 pixels
A T-shirt I saw someone wearing at a bus stop: Gecko Gym, a parody of Gold's Gym, featuring a gecko that bears a striking resemblance to Bart Simpson.

thumbnailMikey.jpg

Once in a Disney Store, I saw a Mickey Mouse T-shirt with the fabric curved in such a way as to look like "Mikey" from my vantage point.

thumbnailNoturtls.jpg

"Turtle's need not apply"?! Discrimination AND poor usage of punctuation!
thumbnailMYTEETH.JPG
FILESIZE: 41,145 bytes — IMAGE SIZE: 389x503 pixels
This Bugs Bunny statue used to stand in the Galleria. Some vandal knocked Bugs's front teeth out. So I made a replacement set of teeth out of white cardboard and surreptitiously taped them in place in a calculated act of anti-vandalism. In this photo, Bugs has my replacement teeth.
thumbnailFbag.jpg
FILESIZE: 30,902 bytes — IMAGE SIZE: 457x396 pixels
Some woman on the bus had this bag plastered all over with a 4-letter word printed upside-down, no doubt taking advantage of the fact that most people don't know how to read upside-down.
